Set up TrueKeep

01Your team

Building your team

Invite the people who’ll use your brand. Access is role-based, so everyone sees exactly what they should.

Viewer

Read-only access to your strategy, guidelines, and assets.

Editor

Can edit portal content: strategy, guidelines, and assets.

Owner

Everything an editor can do, plus managing the organization from Settings: inviting teammates, setting their roles, domain sign-in, and billing.

Team members receive an invite by email with a magic link. They click once to sign in, with no password to create. Their role decides what they can do from the moment they arrive.

Domain sign-in

Instead of inviting people one at a time, an owner can turn on domain sign-in for the company email domain in Settings. Anyone with a matching address then signs in and joins automatically as a viewer, and an owner can promote them from the member list. Personal email providers like Gmail or Outlook can’t be used, so only your real team gets in.

02Brand strategy

The why behind the brand

Strategy is the other half your AI needs. The guide says how the brand looks and sounds; strategy says what it stands for and who it’s for. It feeds the brief’s identity and positioning, so copy comes out positioned, not just branded. Unlike the guide, this is narrative and frameworks, so there are no do’s/don’ts here.

What to capture

Positioning

The cultural shift you respond to, the tension in your category, and the enemy you define yourself against.

Audience & identity

Who can join, segmented into real groups, and the identity they adopt by choosing you.

The core

Your belief (the north star), your promise (what you guarantee, often the tagline), and the role you play in the world.

Messaging

Tagline, value proposition, proof, and a message per audience. This is what the AI reaches for when it writes.

With this in place, the AI writes from your point of view: positioned against the right enemy, speaking to the right audience, carrying your belief and promise. Without it, copy is generic at best.

03Your guide

Write a guide your AI can build from

Everything TrueKeep hands your AI comes from one place: your brand guide. The design brief is generated from it automatically, so the sharper the guide, the more on-brand the output. The Niftic and Factory for Good portals are the reference standard.

Four layers, from words to proof

A guide moves from how the brand thinks, to how it looks, to proof that the system holds. Each layer answers a different question the AI will have.

Verbal identity

Brand signals, voice and tone, editorial style. What the brand believes and how it sounds on the page.

Visual identity

Logo, typography, colour, photography, graphic elements. The look, with exact values and where each one is used.

Composition

Layout and grid. How elements sit on a page: the anchor points, spacing rhythm, and what spans how far.

Brand in context

Real work, annotated. Proof the system holds across decks, screens, and posts.

Do’s and don’ts are the governance

Give every visual section a do/don’t table. It is the most useful thing you can add. A palette tells the AI what your colours are; a don’t tells it what never to do, like “never put an accent colour on type.” Without them, the AI has values but no judgment, and the work comes out technically correct yet generic. With them, it follows your rules.

Brand in context, read by Claude vision

Your own work is the strongest signal. In Brand in Context, drop real compositions and pin each one with a rule, not a label:

Label only: “Logo”

Rule: “Anchor point. Content starts top-left, and the logo aligns to the first text baseline.”

The pins are how the AI extracts layout rules. On top of that, Claude vision reads every image and measures it: the composition archetype, the whitespace, the type scale, the recurring moves. That measured truth folds into the brief as reference compositions, so the AI works from both your stated rules and how your brand actually looks.

What makes it production-ready

The required sections alone make a portal usable. Add a do/don’t to every visual section plus one annotated, in-context composition, and it becomes production-ready: your AI builds on-brand work from a single call.

04Assets

Upload the real files

Assets is your file library, and the AI pulls from it directly. With the real files in place, a deck or a site uses your actual wordmark and sets your real typeface instead of approximating them.

What to upload

Your logo in every variant (full colour, mono, and transparent, for light and dark backgrounds), and your font files (WOFF2 for the web, OTF or TTF for documents). Add photography and templates if you have them. Each file is fetched on demand, so the brand shows up exactly, never as a stand-in.

05Web components

Your component library

Optional, and most useful if you ship product UI. The Components tab holds your live component library. When it’s connected, AI-generated interfaces use your real components, spacing, and tokens instead of generic markup, so a prototype already looks like your product.

06Connect AI

Connect your AI tools

TrueKeep works inside the tools your team already uses. An MCP connection lets your AI assistant read your brand’s source of truth in real time.

What’s an MCP?

It’s a secure bridge between TrueKeep and your AI tool. Once connected, Claude (or any MCP-capable assistant) can read your strategy, identity, guidelines, and assets, then generate work that’s genuinely on-brand instead of generic.

Three steps

  1. 01

Generate a connection key in your portal, just once.

  2. 02

Add the connection to your AI tool with that key.

  3. 03

Ask your assistant to design, write, or build. It reads your brand automatically.

Works with Claude (desktop, web, and CLI), Cursor, and other MCP-capable tools. For example, connect Claude and ask: Design a deck for our Q3 launch. It reads your brief and produces slides that feel unmistakably yours.

07Brief & skill

Download your brief and skill

Your design brief is the source of truth for your brand. The skill bundles ready-to-use commands that apply it across any medium. Together they fully enable your AI.

What’s in the design brief

Everything TrueKeep knows about your brand, written for judgment, not just reference: identity and positioning, the colour system with usage rules, typography and hierarchy, voice and tone, layout principles, reference compositions from your own work, and the rules that matter most: what’s essential, and what’s off-limits.

What’s in the skill

A set of commands grouped into three families:

Make

Generate new work with /design, /deck, /layout, /colorize.

Review

Refine existing work with /critique, /audit, /polish.

Portal

Check your brand’s AI-readiness with /readiness.

Two ways to use it

Connected. Your AI reads the live brief over the MCP connection, always current. Standalone. A self-contained bundle with the brief embedded, works offline and refreshes when your brand changes. Download either from your portal.
